TOURISM ADVOCACY DAYS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JANUARY 30
The Patti MacJennett Tourism Advocacy Days Scholarship Program allows students to attend CalTravel’s annual Tourism Advocacy Days, where over 100 industry leaders come together to meet with state legislators and reinforce the importance of tourism. The event will be held May 12-13 in Sacramento, California.
Winners will have the opportunity to participate in educational sessions, learn how to be effective advocates, and build crucial connections as they prepare to enter the workforce.
CalTravel will award four scholarships, which include:
REGISTRATION
Event registration for Tourism Advocacy Days
MEALS
Two full days of meals, plus a networking reception
LODGING
Two nights of lodging at the host hotel
TRAVEL
Airfare from Southern CA and gas costs from Northern CA
To align this scholarship program with our DEI&A goals, at least one of the scholarships will be reserved for an individual from an underrepresented group.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
Students must be enrolled full-time at a California college or university with a tourism-related program
Students must reside in California
Students may nominate themselves; educators may nominate students; tourism professionals may nominate students
All nominations must include the following:
A letter from the student explaining why attending Tourism Advocacy Days is important to them and how it will further their career plans
The student’s resume
A letter of recommendation from an educator at the student’s college/university
